Coffel home run

BREMEN – Home runs and top-notch pitching was a winning formula for Bremen’s softball team Saturday.

The Lady Lions smashed six homers and pitchers Kaelyn Shively and Caitlin Traxler allowed just one run over two games as Bremen won its own tournament at Pfeiffer Field, defeating Westview 13-0 in the morning contest, then downing Lakeland, 8-1, in the championship.

Erin Coffel hit two HRs, while Traxler and Rylee Hershberger each hit one in the five-inning win over potential sectional opponent Westview. In the second game, Coffel connected again and McKenna Myers joined her to turn a close game into a relatively easy victory.
