Starke Co. Sheriff's Office investigates Saturday morning stabbing

STARKE COUNTY - The Starke County Sheriff's Deparment, assisted by Knox PD and Starke County EMS, responded to a stabbing incident Saturday morning. 

Starke County Sheriff Bill Dulin reports that just after 6 a.m. CT on Saturday, July 25, the Starke County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call of an unwanted guest in the 6000 block of 23 north. While officers were responding, dispatch advised them that one individual had been stabbed. 

Officers arrived and found that 23-year-old Richard Clark had been Stabbed by 28-year-old Michael Ruiz. During the investigation, officers learned that Richard Clark is the ex-boyfriend of  a woman in the home and the two have a child together. 

According to authorities, Clark showed up unannounced and forced his way into a rear door. Once he discovered Ruiz in the home, a physical altercation apparently ensued. During this time, Clark allegedly attempted to strangle Ruiz and Ruiz reportedly responded by stabbing him multiple times before Clark released him. 

Clark was taken by ambulance to Memorial Hospital where he is currently being treated. He faces multiple charges and will be formally charged once released from the hospital.
