Marshall County Health Department (MCHD) Nurse Lisa Letsinger confirmed in an email Saturday that the Marshall County Correctional Facility reported one hundred twenty-two (122) confirmed cases of COVID-19 at the jail.
MCHD has been in contact with jail staff and Marshall County Sheriff Matthew Hassel on recommendations for isolation, quarantine, and treatment of the COVID-19 positive inmates.
They have also communicated testing requirements of inmates and jail staff.
Preliminary coverage of the visit by the Indiana State Department of Health Strike Team printed in the Wednesday and Thursday edition of the Pilot News.
In-depth coverage of the Marshall County Commissioners meeting held Thursday morning; printed in the weekend edition of the Pilot News; still available on news stands.
The total number of inmates who tested positive was not available by Thursday evening so was not included in that report.
The Pilot News did not print Friday due to the New Year holiday.
Continued coverage will be printed as additional information is made available to us.
CORRECTION [SPELLING ERROR] IN THE WEEKEND EDITION: Andrew "Beau" Holcomb was printed Andrew "Bo" Holcomb. My humble apologies to Chief Jailer Holcomb and our readers.
