Northwest Health CEO addresses capacity concerns

With hospital capacity concerns at the forefront of many minds at this time, the following statement was released on Sunday, Nov. 22 and attributed to Northwest Health La Porte & Starke CEO Ashley Dickinson:
“As you know, the number and severity of COVID-19 cases in our region has increased in recent weeks. All three of our Northwest Health hospitals, located in Valparaiso, La Porte and Knox, have the capacity to admit additional patients to the hospital and most elective procedures are continuing as scheduled. We encourage individuals experiencing a medical emergency to seek care promptly.
While many people who test positive for COVID are able to remain at home, others require hospitalization. This is a very fluid situation and could change quickly.
We are asking everyone to follow CDC and Indiana State Department of Health guidelines for preventing the spread of the virus – stay 6 feet away from others, wear a mask covering your nose and mouth, wash your hands frequently and stay home if you aren’t feeling well. By doing so, you are supporting your medical community and helping your friends and neighbors remain healthy.”
Northwest Health officials have the average ER wait time listed on their website along with other information. For additional details, visit nwhealthin.com
