IDH Update: Marshall Co. shifts to yellow, Starke bumped to blue

COVID-19 rates in Marshall and Starke County appear to be trending downwards, according to the latest update to the Indiana Department of Health’s color-coded county metrics map.

When the IDH updated their color-coded county metric map on Wednesday, Feb. 10, Starke County was shifted into the Blue category, reflecting low community spread, and Marshall County was bumped down to the Yellow category which indicates moderate community spread.

While the color-coded county metric map reflects Starke County’s Blue COVID-19 status and Marshall County’s Yellow COVID-19 status based off of the 7-day positivity rate and weekly cases per 100,000, the advisory level remains in yellow and orange, respectively, to ease the counties into less stringent restrictions.

Under the yellow advisory level, which Starke County is currently under, social gatherings can have up to 100 people in attendance. If the gathering is taking place within an establishment, event organizers cannot exceed 50% of facility capacity.

Under the orange advisory level, which Marshall County is currently under, up to 50 people are permitted to attend social gatherings and events, however, if those are taking place within an establishment, organizers are not allowed to exceed 25% of facility capacity.

The color-coded county metric map is updated every Wednesday at noon ET while the IDH's COVID-19 dashboard, which tracks cumulative case counts, deaths, testing info and positivity rates, is updated every day at noon ET.

As of today (Wednesday, Feb. 10), Indiana’s cumulative case count is 643,305 and total number of deaths is 11,579. Compared to this same time last week, that’s 11,974 new positive COVID-19 cases reported and an additional 1,866 recorded deaths.
