MCHD press release regarding change in leadership

MARSHALL COUNTY — The following press release was issued by Marshall County Health Department (MCHD) Health Officer Dr. Byron Holm regarding Ashley Garcia’s exit as MCHD Administrator:

As some of you know, Ashley Garcia is no longer employed with Marshall County Health Department. I would like to let you know that I will be taking over many of the management duties in the interim. The Marshall County Health Department will continue to meet the needs of the community, as it has in the past. As you know, we continue to see a rise in numbers as the COVID-19 pandemic sweeps across our county and State. We are asking everyone to take part in masking up at all times and sanitizing your hands. In addition, we have again locked down our nursing homes and other nursing facilities for visitation in an effort to protect the residents who are most vulnerable for COVID-19 infections. We continue to work diligently with our schools so that we might keep in person education alive and well. The administrators, teachers and students are doing an excellent job at keeping this controlled.

In the near future, we will hopefully have some heated outdoor testing sites available to continue servicing our county residents. Also, with the mobile medical unit, which is slated to arrive in late December, we will be extending various types of services including COVID-19 testing, immunizations and vaccinations to our schools and communities across Marshall County.

Marshall County Health Department will remain on the cutting edge of education, prevention, and treatment of the COVID-19 virus. This will only be possible with the public’s help. We need to continue to social distance, mask up at all times, avoid crowds, stay home if ill, and promote hand hygiene. All these practices will help keep our schools open, our business’s running and our residents healthy. No one person or organization can do this alone. It will take all Marshall County residents working together to make a difference.

Thank you for your help.
