Knox man arrested for OWI, marijuana possession

On Saturday, Nov. 6 at 8:42 p.m., Sgt. Laffoon performed a traffic stop at 13th Road near Maple Road on a red Chevy SUV that he observed driving erratically. The driver of the vehicle, Walter R. Maciejack, age 67 of Knox, was later found to have an active felony warrant through Marshall County. He was also found to be driving as a habitual traffic violator and later failed a portable breath test. A probable cause search of the vehicle also yielded a small amount of marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia. Maciejack was transported to the Marshall County Jail where he was lodged for the active warrant and further charges of Operating a Vehicle After Lifetime Suspension, Operating While Intoxicated, and Possession of Marijuana.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
