Two rural Culver residents were listed in critical condition Saturday following what has been surmised to be an early morning domestic disturbance resulting in the shooting of 32-year-old Jeffery Greer, the estranged husband of 29-year-old Melanie Greer.

Officers from the Indiana State Police and Fulton County Sheriff’s Department responded at 1:20 a.m. to a report of shooting at 10561 West Fulton County Road 800 North. At the residence there, Jeffery Greer was found lying outside with an apparent gunshot to the face, while Melanie Greer was found inside the house, also with a bullet wound to the face.

Both were flown by helicopter to Fort Wayne, and were conscious and alert when discovered.

Though the Investigation is ongoing, initial reports indicate Jeffery Greer allegedly broke into the house and shot his estranged wife and then himself, while two boys, 7 and 10 years old, respectively, were inside the home and unharmed. They were subsequently placed into the care of the Fulton County Division of the Indiana Department of Child Services.
