Teacher arrested in connection with double homicide

The investigation into the deaths of Joshua Knisley and Tara Thornburg continues to be investigated by law enforcement officers. Based on information gained through the investigation, on March 4, 2015 officers from Syracuse Police and Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department with the assistance of the Kosciusko County Prosecutors Office executed a search warrant at the DeHart residence on County Road 450 East south of Syracuse. The search warrant was executed to search for further evidence related to the deaths of Knisley and Thornburg.

Information also obtained during the investigation led to the arrest on March 4, 2015 of Joan DeHart, age 49, of Syracuse. Joan was arrested on a charge of “Assisting a Criminal” and is currently being held at the Kosciusko County Jail with no bond.

The investigation is still continuing by the agencies listed and further information will be released at a later time.

The charge is merely an allegation of an offense and all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
