Old Timers out to prove they still have it

PLYMOUTH — Celebrating the Plymouth community and the Plymouth schools will take an athletic turn during Alumni Week July 31 through Aug. 5.
Plymouth grads will lace it up again in several alumni games during the week, showing off the skills they learned as part of the Plymouth Athletics Department.
"All the older guys know they still have it this is their chance to prove it," said Rusty Nixon director of the Plymouth Alumni Association, sponsor of the events of Alumni Week. "This is a chance for all generations of players to get together and share the common bond of having been yelled at by your coach."
Bill Nixon Field will host the first Old Timers game of the week giving former Pilgrims a chance to show their stuff one more time. The game will start at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 31 and all former players are encouraged to put on the cleats again. Wednesday, Aug. 3 is a night-long celebration of volleyball. Beginning at 6 p.m. at Lincoln Jr. High will be Alumni game number two of the week. Later on Wednesday night, make sure to stick around for community night sand volleyball at Centennial Park.

Other events during Alumni Week include family game night at Mancino's. Bring the family and your favorite board games, grab some pizza and enjoy the evening with friends and family.
The annual Ladies Big Red Open takes place during the day Thursday, Aug. 4 raising money for the women's athletics programs at PHS, and the Art Thomas Big Red Open has its 21st outing Friday, Aug. 5 to support the PHS athletic department.
There will be an all-class social at Swan Lake Friday, Aug. 5, and reunions for the classes of 1976 at The Office and 1986 at the Brass Rail will be on the agenda for Saturday night.
