Given the weather forecast for the coming days (which includes snow accumulation and sub-zero temperatures), a new app may enhance Marshall County (and all Indiana) motorists' ability to navigate the state's highways and biways, particularly in the area of weather.

The State of Indiana is making a free mobile app available to provide users with county travel status updates and alerts directly to mobile devices.

The state Department of Homeland Security announced it collaborated on creating the app along with Indiana's Office of Technology. Its features allow users to set alerts for the county or counties of their choce, and when a travel status in a selected county is changed, users will receive an alert notification.

The app will also include weather conditions for each county and contact information for county emergency management agencies.

The Indiana Travel Advisory app may be downloaded for iPhone in the App Store and Android in the Google Play Store.
