National touring caravan brings ‘A Christmas Carol’ to Culver

Culver Academies continues its Huffington Concert Series Tuesday, Dec. 11, starting at 7:30 p.m. with the Nebraska Theatre Caravan's production of the beloved Charles Dickens Christmas classic, "A Christmas Carol."

Featuring a cast of 24, live musicians, and Broadway-style scenery and costumes, the show will take place onstage at Eppley Auditorium on the Academies campus.

The Nebraska Theatre Caravan was founded in 1975 as a joint project between the Omaha Playhouse and the Nebraska Arts Council “to bring together a small group of professional performer-teachers for workshops in Omaha and out-state.” In 1979 the Caravan started touring this, the Charles Jones adaptation of "A Christmas Carol" nationally with one company touring the Midwest. Three years later in 1982 another company was added to tour the East Coast and a third to tour the West Coast in 1987. The national tour of the play has performed in over 600 cities in 49 states and 4 Canadian provinces to rave reviews.

Tickets to the performance may be purchased at the Steinbrenner Performing Arts Center box office from 1 to 4 p.m., or at the Eppley Auditorium box office one hour prior to the performance. Questions may be directed to Marsha Coven at covenm@culver. org, or 574-842-7058.
