Lancers softball rallies for 12-10 win at Argos

LaVille’s softball team’s bats woke up just in time Tuesday as the Lancers plated eight runs in the final two innings to pull out a hard-fought 12-10 win at Argos.
LaVille trailed 5-2, 8-4 and 10-8 yet had a never say die attitude.
Trailing 10-8 entering their last at bat, the Lancers’ first five batters reached in the seventh inning. As a result, they scored four runs on four singles.
The big blow in the frame came off of the bat of Taesha Senders. Her single scored a pair, which gave LaVille its first lead (11-10) since the second inning.
One of the stars for the Lancers was leadoff hitter Kamryn Gorka. The freshman center fielder reached base in all five of her plate appearances, had three walks, two singles and scored twice.
Argos' Mariah Lineberry was awfully impressive. The shortstop reached base on all five of her plate appearances, walking four times, scoring three times and just missing a home run in the first inning, settling for a double.
Madelyn Strycker, who pitched on Monday for the Dragons, picked up the tough loss after coming on in relief of starter Missy Golden, who pitched just 1 2/3 innings.
Celeste Feitz got the win, stepping inside the circle in the fifth inning and striking out the side in the seventh, all of them swinging.
Feitz relieved Senders, who came in for freshman starter Mara Medors. Senders and Medors struggled mightily with their control, allowing 15 combined walks.
