Girls tennis sectional schedule announced

The draws for the IHSAA's 38th annual team girls tennis tournament were announced Monday night.
Plymouth drew the bye at the Bremen Sectional and will look for a 12th straight team title as it begins sectional play Thursday against the winner of Wednesday night's opener between LaVille and Triton at 4:30 p.m. at DeSantis Courts. Bremen will play John Glenn in another Northern State Conference matchup Thursday at 4:30 p.m. with the winner advancing to face the winner of the other Thursday semifinal in the championship Friday at 4:30 p.m.
Culver Girls Academy is looking to keep a streak of seven titles alive at its home tournament at the Gable Tennis Complex, meanwhile, as the hosts play Knox Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. The winners will advance to play the winner of Wednesday's other CGA semifinal between Rochester and North Judson in the championship Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
CGA will host a regional tournament May 22-23, where the winner at Bremen will face off against the winner of the Warsaw Sectional, and the CGA winner will take on the Peru winner in the semifinals May 22 with the championship slated for May 23.
Players may also advance into the individual IHSAA tournament if their team is eliminated but they remain unbeaten during sectional play. Undefeated No. 1 singles and doubles players from the Bremen and CGA fields may stay alive during CGA team regional play and advance to the IHSAA's 31st annual singles or 22nd annual doubles state tourney.
