ROCHESTER — Don Gross, 90, of Rochester, formerly of Culver, who spent many winters in Florida passed away there. Don had said, “When it is my time to go, I will go.” Feb. 1, 2013 was his time to join the presence of Our Lord.
Don is survived by his wife Eileen Smith, who he married Oct. 29, 1945. Together they enjoyed many years of camping, fishing, gardening, ice and roller skating, dancing, and most of all family. 
Don, an Army veteran, served his country during WWII. He was in the field artillery. He served under General George Patton in the Battle of the Bulge. After his discharge, he was one of six men who carpooled to Bendix, where he worked 30 years until his retirement.
He is also survived by his six children: Jim Gross of Argos, Jerry (Janeal) Gross of Shelbyville, Ky., Jean (Ron) Brown of Anchorage, Alaska, Ron (Bettie) Gross of Kewanna, Dan (Deb) Gross of Leiters Ford, and Donna (Joe) Higgins of Roxboro, N.C. He is also survived by many grand and great-grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, 11 brothers and sisters.
A memorial service for Don will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 6 at the Odom Funeral Home in Culver. Friends may visit with the family from 9:45 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in the Culver Masonic Cemetery.
