Culver's Lakehouse to expand to outdoor dining

Pictured is the (planned) future of the former 630 Lake Shore Drive (previously Rideon Bicycles) and the present Lakehouse Grille, at 620 E. Lake Shore Drive in Culver.

Lakehouse owner Mark Damore Jr. hopes the addition of the outdoor dining landscape -- with its commanding view of Lake Maxinkuckee and the town park -- will be one more reason for Culver to be a destination for those from outside of town, and a source of pride for those who live here. The new space, which will include two fireplaces, a new tree, and a "covered" section for those wishing to dine protected from intense sunshine and rain, is expected to be completed by May of 2015.

That addition will also facilitate opening up new indoor banquet space within the Lakehouse, while enhancing the amenities of the present banquet room.

"I'm happy with the business I have," Damore told the Citizen. "The reason I'm expanding is what I'm expanding to: it's about the experience, not the seating capacity.

"I want people to be excited about their town,” he adds, “whether they're a resident or visitor. If you're connected to Culver in any way -- to be proud of their town. That's the moral of the story."
