CGA routs LaVille 7-0 in Argos Sectional semi

ARGOS — Plymouth squeaked past Argos, while Culver Girls Academy routed LaVille to set up a Lady Rockies-Eagles championship at the Argos Girls Soccer Sectional Semifinals Thursday at Eugene Snyder Field.
Culver Girls Academy used a deft passing game to outpossess the Lady Lancers and scored a clean-up goal off a deflection by LaVille goalkeeper Abbie McBride less than two minutes into the game to put the Lancers in the hole early.
Culver struck again in the sixth minute on a Kimberly Grover strike off a Shawna Lesperance forward pass to widen the gap, and the Eagles salted away two more goals in the final 6 minutes of the half to grab a 4-0 cushion by the break.
"We made stupid mistakes at the start of the game and let two quick goals in," said LaVille girls soccer head coach Steve Hodge. "I told them you've got to tighten up, don't let that happen, and what do we do? We just set it up for them, both of them. And then we start getting into the game. I'm not saying we were dominating or anything like that, but we were doing enough to keep them under control and then for some reason we let them score to more before halftime. The start and the end of the first half just destroyed us, really."
