Ancilla’s Himes, Richardson receive postseason honors

DONALDSON — Two members of this year’s Ancilla women’s basketball team have received All-Michigan Community College Athletic Association honors.
Plymouth alum Brittany Himes was named All-MCCAA Honorable Mention while teammate Kaylia Richardson received numerous awards this postseason.
Himes led the team in 3-pointers made this season and averaged 9.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.
“Brittany was our hustle player this year,” said Ancilla women’s basketball coach Stephanie Beason. “She was always the first one on the floor after a loose ball or trying to get position to take a charge. It will be great for us to have an All-Conference athlete returning next season.”
Richardson was selected to the All-Region XII Team, the All-MCCAA team and was an All-Western Conference 1st team selection.
Richardson finished the season leading the country in scoring with 24.1 points per game and 10th in the country in rebounds with 13.3 per game. Richardson also set many single-season school records this year including points, points per game, two-point field goals made, two-point field goal percentage and offensive rebounds in a season.
“I was glad to see Kaylia receive so many postseason honors,” said Beason. “She worked hard and is very deserving of them. I think Kaylia was one of the best post players in the league this year. Once she got on a roll, there was nothing anyone could do to stop her. She did a great job for us.”
