WASHINGTON—St. Dominic’s Sewing Group presented their third quilt on Thursday, May 2 at the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department bingo night. This group, headed by Judi Meissner, enjoys getting together to sew gifts for people in the area.
“Typically, we must make pillowcases and things like that,” Meissner said. “But we’re always looking for ideas.”
What St. Dominic’s Sewing Group is becoming known for, however, is the quilts they make for those who have served our country. The latest quilt sewn by the group and quilted by David and Regina White, was given to Sgt. James Hurst, a regular attender of bingo night. The inscription on the quilt, which was embroidered by Dolores Paulsen, reads, “In Appreciation For Your Service, Sgt. James Hurst, U.S.A.F. Crew Chief, Aug. 1969 – Aug. 1973, From St. Dominic’s Sewing Group 2019.”
