BPL breaks ground on renovation

The Bremen Public Library broke ground on its multimillion dollar renovation project during a ceremony earlier this week.

“This $3 million project has been a long road of development and we’re ecstatic to begin the ‘hammers and nails’ portion,” said BPL Director Chris Scandling.

Scandling also used this as a time to reflect on the way libraries continue to serve traditional roles, but have also evolved to suit modern needs.

“(Libraries) are open to everyone,” he said. “They are nonpartisan. They are free. Even in today’s fractured digital age, libraries rank among the most popular and well-visited places in our cultural landscape.”
