Slight chance for severe weather this evening into Friday morning

From the Desk of Clyde Avery, Marshall County Emergency Management Agency Director:

Good morning,The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center currently has us in the “Slight” chance category for severe weather for this evening into Friday morning especially south of U.S. 30.

PRIMARY THREAT:  Strong Damaging winds and heavy rain.

IMPACTS:  Possibility of damage to trees that could lead to downed powerlines and power outages.  Some flooding of low lying areas, ponding on road surfaces and an increase in water levels in streams and ditches.

PREPAREDNESS ACTION:  Secure loose objects the prevent them from being blown around a causing damage.  Be prepared for some power outages, check batteries in flashlights to be sure they are working properly.  Charge your cell phone.  Be mindful of water on road surfaces that may make for hazardous driving conditions especially at night.  Listen for weather updates.

I will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they are made available.

Thanks,

Clyde
