CULVER — Charles F. "Trip" "Junior" Triplet Jr., 85, of Culver, passed away at 4:45 a.m. Sept. 17, 2010 at the Miller's Merry Manor in Culver.
Trip was born Nov. 7, 1924 at Burr Oak, Ind., one of four children born to Charles and Fern (Marsh) Triplet Sr.
After graduating from Culver High School in 1942, Trip worked at Studebaker in South Bend along with his father. After 12 years, he started farming and working for the Farm Bureau Co-Op at Inwood as an agronomist.
In December 1947, he was married to Mildred Overmyer. She preceded him in death in July 1981. Trip then later fell in love and married Judith Wright Sept. 10, 1983 in Culver.
Trip loved to garden and farm. He also enjoyed watching Westerns. He was a member of the Culver Eagles and the National Farmers Organization. He was quite a storyteller.
Trip is survived by his wife, Judith of Culver; sons, Victor (Tina) Triplet and Tony (Sherri) Triplet of South Bend; daughter Debra (John) Warwick of Bluffton, Ind.; stepsons Justin (Johanna) Ash of Wilmington, N.C. and Brook Ash of Maryland; stepdaughters, Carla Ash (Matt Pratt) of Plymouth, and Natalie Ash Kurzhal of Indianapolis; 18 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren; a sister, Kate May; and a brother, Paul (Mary) Triplet of Culver.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Mildred Overmyer; sister, Betty McKee; and grandson and granddaughter, Zane and Zoie Triplet who were killed in an auto accident.
A Gathering of Remembrance with Trip's family and friends will be held Tuesday, Sept. 21, from 4 to 8 p.m. EDT at the Odom Funeral Home in Culver.
Memorials may be given to the Center for Hospice Care in Trip's memory.
