MISHAWAKA — Mildred L. Tom, 80, passed away Thursday, Sept. 16 in Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa.
Mildred was born Feb. 22, 1930 in Kosciusko County, to Floyd and Grace (Buss) Mc Intire. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Flossie Kepper; three brothers: Eldon and Devon Mc Intire and Eugene Mc Intyre; and a son, Gregory Tom.
Dec.17, 1946 in Bourbon, as the former Mildred Mc Intire, she married Wayne Tom who preceded her in death March 17, 2002.
Surviving are a daughter, Sandra (Ronald) Franklin of Elkhart; son, Larry Tom (life partner, Steve See) of Osceola; seven grandchildren: Ronald (Kim) Franklin Jr., Angela (Frank) Fitz, Lynn (Tim) Heckaman, Robyn (Jared) Kendall and Mindy (Neil) Long, Savannah Herrera and K. C. Tom; 19 great-grandchildren; Dillon Franklin, Cheyenne and Austin Heckaman, Marietta, Olivia, Christian, Corbon, Simeon and Ahava Long, Alexis, Alyssa, Dakota, Justin and Kendall Tidey, Sarah, Shania and Faith Feitz, Derek (Erin) Hann, Stephanie Hann; four great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Esther (Gordon) Ecker of LaPaz, Janice Wynn of Culver, Patsy (Marty) Jennings of Argos, and Sharon (Cat) Vasquez of San Antonio, Texas; brothers, Warren “Red” (Helen) Mc Intyre of Tippecanoe, and Darrel (Mary) Mc Intire of Argos; and a former daughter-in-law, Nina Tom of Bremen.
Mildred worked for Uniroyal for 18 years in Line Production until she retired in 1977. She then worked at St. Joseph Hospital in Mishawaka for eight years, then at Fargo Assembly in Mishawaka; she retired in 1992. Mildred was a member of Berkley Circle Ladies group.
Visitation will be in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka Sunday, Sept. 19 from 2 to 5 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home Monday, Sept. 20 at 10 a.m., with Rev. the Rev. Robert Vale officiating.
Burial will be in Bremen Cemetery, Bremen.
