LYNWOOD, Ill. — Kenneth “Ken” “Kenny” “Kuz” Michael Kuczwara, 47, of Lynwood, Ill. passed away suddenly March 7, 2012 of natural causes.
Ken was born Oct. 8, 1964 in Chicago, Ill. and was placed into the arms and hearts of his parents Harold and Lydia Kuczwara. Ken grew up in Elmhurst, Ill. attended Elmhurst public schools and graduated from York Community High School in 1982. Ken was an avid hockey player in his youth playing on a traveling team in middle school and junior high and then for York’s hockey team for his four years in high school. He was an avid sports fan, Cubs, Bulls and especially the Blackhawks and Bears. In his 47 years, a Bears game was never missed. His comments on game play seemed as though they could be heard around the world. He loved to cook inside or on the grill and made amazing chocolate chip cookies. Ken had a thoughtful and large heart that he wore on his sleeve. He was willing to give his shirt off his back or the last dollar in his pocket to help anyone that may need it. He was a hard worker, and not afraid to get dirty to get the job done. He also had a fierce love for his family and friends that will never be forgotten.
With saddened and heavy hearts Ken left behind his parents Harold and Lydia Kuczwara of Culver, brother Keith Kuczwara of Bensenville, Ill., sister Robin Kuczwara of Lowell as well as maternal aunts Leona McFarland of Culver, Ida Brettin of Walkerton, and Hanna Kuczwara of Naperville, Ill. Ken is reunited in heaven with his maternal grandparents Herman and Anna Hartmann, paternal grandparents Joseph and Bernice Kuczwara, his uncles Harry (Leona) McFarland, Donald (Hanna) Kuczwara, aunts Bertha “Boots” (John) Layton and Marie (Mike) Orangias and family German Shepherd, “Shep.”
Services will be held Monday March 12, 2012 at Odom Funeral Home in Culver. Visitation with family will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., with funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. Committal service will follow at Poplar Grove Cemetery, Culver, where Ken will be laid to rest at Maxinkuckee IOOF Cemetery alongside his aunts and uncle. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.
