Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Anne Castleman

ARGOS — Elizabeth “Betty” Anne Castleman, 81, of 17068 Oak Road, Argos, died Feb. 19, 2012 at 3:05 a.m. at Miller’s Merry Manor – Culver following a lengthy illness.
She was born Aug. 3, 1930 in Argos to Frank Orange Cowen and Hallie Belle Lowry. She lived all of her life in the Argos community.
Aug. 28, 1949 she married Rex P. Castleman at Poplar Grove United Methodist Church, Culver.
She worked as a switchboard operator for the Argos Telephone Company, then went to work at the State Exchange Bank in Culver for 21 years.
She was a member of the Poplar Grove United Methodist Church and attended the Argos United Methodist Church; and the weekly Bunco & Domino Club.
She was a graduate of Argos High School class of 1949.
She is survived by husband, Rex Castleman of Argos; sons, John D. Castleman of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; Andrew J Castleman and wife Stephanie of Carmel; grandchildren, Danielle, Tamara, Cassandry; great-grandchildren, Kyra, Hallie, Connor, Carson, and Braelyn; and two sisters, Ruth Gordon of Plymouth, Lida Belle Norris of Argos.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Brent Paul Castleman; daughter, JoEllen Castleman; brother, Eldon Cowen; and four sisters, Edith Staley, Florence Baker, Irene Hissong, and Marjorie Johnson-Andersen.
Friends visited with the family Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Argos United Methodist Church, 570 N. Michigan St., Argos; and Wednesday, Feb. 22 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Poplar Grove United Methodist Church, West S.R. 10, Culver.
Services were at 12 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012 at the Poplar Grove United Methodist Church, with Rev. Henry V. Sprunger and Dewey L. Miller Jr. officiating.
Burial is at Maxinkuckee IOOF Cemetery at Poplar Grove, Culver. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice. Electronic condolences may be sent to the family at firstname.lastname@example.org . Arrangements have been entrusted with the Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, Argos.
