WINONA LAKE — Bremen High School senior Taylor Fanning became the first 2011 recruit for the Grace College golf team Monday, signing on to play for the NAIA Division II Lancers next year.
Fanning played four years of golf at Bremen in addition to four years of tennis as well. During his high school golf career, he was a two-time All-Northern State Conference athlete, a qualifier for the 2009-10 regional meet as a junior last season and an IJGSA state qualifier. On the tennis court, he was a three-time team MVP and also earned all-conference honors.
“I chose Grace because I enjoyed the campus and liked the professors,” Fanning said. “I wanted to attend a college that would allow me to grow in my relationship with God, and I felt that Grace would allow me to do that. I want to help out the team and keep improving my golf game.”
At Grace, Taylor plans on majoring in accounting or business. He was in the top 10 in his class at Bremen, an honorable mention for Academic All-State and a National Honor Society and Student Council member.
“We’re looking forward to Taylor’s time at Grace,” said head golf coach Bo Wright. “He’s going to be a great fit at this school, and we are excited for him to contribute on the golf team.”
