INDIANAPOLIS — Triton sophomore Clay Yeo, Park Tudor freshman Trevon Bluiett and Washington senior Cody Zeller are the IBCA/Pacers-Fever Players of the Week for the week of March 21-26.
Bluiett and Zeller were named winners after leading their teams to respective Class 2A and Class 3A state championships, while Yeo is a recipient after helping Triton to a Class A runner-up finish. The citation was Zeller’s fourth this season.
Yeo, a 6-5 forward, was recognized after scoring a game-high 19 points in Triton’s 59-55 Class A title-game setback to Indianapolis Metropolitan. Yeo added six rebounds, six steals and three assists as the Trojans finished their season at 23-4.
Triton senior Griffyn Carpenter received the weekly award last week.
The 6-11 Zeller, an Indiana University recruit, totaled game highs of 20 points and 18 rebounds in propelling Washington to a 61-46 triumph over Culver Academy for the Class 3A crown. The win improved the Hatchets to 23-4 and gave them their third state title in the past four seasons. Zeller — who previously was Player of the Week Dec. 13-18, Jan. 31-Feb. 5 and March 7-12 — also was named winner of the IHSAA’s Arthur L. Trester Mental Attitude Award for 3A boys basketball.
A 6-5 forward, Bluiett netted a game-high 21 points and a team-high eight rebounds in leading Park Tudor to a 43-42 victory over Hammond Bishop Noll for the Class 2A title. Bluiett made 8 of 13 field goals, 1 of 2 3-pointers and 4 of 6 free throws as the Panthers completed their season with a 26-2 record.
CMA junior point guard Jermaine Myers was nominated for the award after scoring 17 points and dishing out four assists with six steals against Washington.
