PLYMOUTH — It took Plymouth a full half to put up nine points against New Prairie.
They doubled that number in just over three minutes of the third frame.
The Lady Pilgrims began finding the post in the second half, grabbing a 20-11 lead against the potential Sectional 19 foe Cougars headed into the fourth quarter, then holding off a 10-4 run by the visitors with 15-of-18 free throw shooting in the final quarter for a 37-22 win at The Rock Wednesday.
“I told them at halftime that this team came into your gym and I thought they outhustled you, I thought they dictated what you did, and that’s just flat out unacceptable,” said Plymouth girls basketball head coach Dave Cox. “You have control of all those aspects. You might not be able to put the ball in the hoop that night, but you have control of the effort, and you have control of getting dictated.
“They understood what was at stake here because I talk to them about it all the time. This is a possible sectional opponent. “
