PLYMOUTH — Plymouth point guard Houston Hodges played his best game of the season, but NorthWood won the game in the front court.
With 6-foot-8 leading scorer Sean Smith sidelined with a five-game suspension, Panthers big men Cameron Williams and Aaron Rhoade combined for 27 points, and NorthWood earned a 19-rebound advantage keeping Plymouth off the glass as the Panthers handed the Pilgrims a 47-38 Northern Lakes Conference-opening loss at The Rock Friday.
“Give credit to Cameron Williams, I thought he was a difference-maker tonight,” said NorthWood head basketball coach Aaron Wolfe. “Every time that we needed a rebound or someone to clean up a play, I thought Cameron asserted himself and played very well tonight. He played like a senior. Aaron Rhoade stepped up as well. Aaron Rhoade did a nice job, as did Jakyah Qaiyim, and I thought we were able to finish some plays around the basket area that kind of separated the game.”
