KNOX — As a nationally-ranked recruit, Caity Farus had no shortage of offers to play college volleyball.
But rather than go with one of the bigger Division I programs courting her, the 6'3" Knox middle hitter decided to play for High Point University.
"I chose High Point because I went on tours at a lot of colleges, and there was something about each college that I didn't like," said Farus. "I went to High Point and I fell in love with everything; I knew it was the perfect fit for me. I love the coaches, I love the campus, I love the team, I love just the college in general so that made my decision very easy."
"Caity has worked extremely hard for this outstanding opportunity," said Knox head volleyball coach Jake Skelly. "We all are very proud of her. On behalf of the entire Knox volleyball program and the Skelly Family, we would like to thank Caity for all that she has done for the volleyball program here at Knox, and wish her the best of luck at High Point University."
The opportunity to make a quick impact for the Panthers — who finished the 2009 season at 17-17, losing to eventual conference champion Coastal Carolina in the Big South Tournament — was also part of Farus' decision-making process.
