Lauretta May Berger

PLYMOUTH — Lauretta May Berger, 89, of Plymouth, passed away in Pilgrim Manor at 3:09 a.m., Tuesday morning, April 2, 2013.
Born in Plymouth on June 1, 1923, Lauretta was the daughter of James M. and Marie Tarent Gilbert. She lived in Plymouth all of her life, graduating from the eighth grade of Webster School in 1936.
On Nov. 8, 1940, in Plymouth, Lauretta and Clifford Berger Sr. were married. Clifford passed away April 24, 2009, following almost 69 years of marriage.
A homemaker, Lauretta loved cooking. She was a member of the Friendly Circle of Purdue and the Women of the Moose.
Survivors include her children, a daughter, two sons and a daughter-in-law, all of Plymouth. Her daughter is Carol J. Benson and her sons are Clifford R. Berger Jr. and James P. and Margaret Berger.
Four grandchildren: Robert Benson, Christine (Matthew) Lotter, Jason (Jenny) Berger and Kimberlee (Clint) Schnitz; five great-grandchildren: Amanda Benson, Andrew Benson, Jacob Berger, Clayton Schnitz and Carissa (Bradley) McCulley; and two great-great-grandchildren: Alaina Lotter and Cashton McCulley, also survive.
Lauretta was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and siblings: Ed Gilbert, Bob Gilbert, Helen Platz, Laurene Gunterman, Richard “Dick” Gilbert and Don Gilbert.
A time of visitation will be held Friday April 5, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services will immediately follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. Chuck Krieg will officiate.
Burial will be in the Bremen Cemetery.
