DONALDSON — The Ancilla men’s golf program is anticipating an exciting and competitive spring golf season.
With nine incoming freshmen the enthusiasm is high, and the young group of men has been working hard since hitting campus in August of 2012.
New additions to the team include Plymouth’s Cody Bennett and New Prairie’s Blake Bennet, as well as Drew Roser, Austin Stonebraker, Eric Davis, Jacob Shaw, Caleb Armand, Corey Burton and Levi Winget.
The energetic team has played many practice rounds at Swan Lake’s Silver and Black golf courses over the fall, with the Chargers working on all aspects of their games.
“The winter months had the team playing and practicing regularly indoors at Swan Lake on the two simulators and tweaking their short games,” said Ancilla golf coach Marc Hayden. “March will be an exciting month with the links warming, allowing everyone the chance to play outdoors.”
A first will be accomplished by this year’s team, too.
A spring golf trip to Fairfield Glade Resorts in Crossville, Tennessee will allow the team ample practice time before the Chargers’ first home match at Swan Lake April 1.
“Team and individual goals are lofty for the upcoming season,” said Hayden. “Golf matches in Port Huron, Battle Creek and at several other beautiful Michigan courses will be a challenge the Ancilla men’s golf team looks forward to.”
