HAMLET — Oregon-Davis guard Ashley Campbell was named as one of the IBCA/ Subway Players of the Week Monday for her performances during Class A Sectional 51 play last week.
The 5-6 junior guard was cited after averaging 22.7 points over three games and leading Class A No. 2 Oregon-Davis (21-3) to a repeat sectional championship. Campbell opened with 16 points, four assists and four steals in an 83-18 rout of Westville, then followed with 27 points on 5-of-6 3-point shooting in a 75-42 triumph over Argos. Campbell finished by scoring 25 points with eight assists as the Bobcats defeated Triton 76-38. Across three games, Campbell sank 10 3-pointers.
Campbell is joined by Hamilton Heights senior Dakota Weatherford, Pioneer sophomore Carter Skaggs, Lafayette Central Catholic senior Andrew Hubertz, Shakamak senior Brodie Crowe and Princeton freshman Jackie Young.
This is the fifth season for the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Week program and the first season it is presented by Subway Restaurants of Indiana, a primary sponsor of the IBCA.
Player of the Week winners are chosen each week from each of the IHSAA’s three districts. Girls winners will be chosen through the week following March 2. Boys winners be selected from through the week following March 23.
