PLYMOUTH — They say it is a game of inches, and Plymouth’s Rockies certainly believe that this morning.
After a valiant effort against a very talented and athletic South Bend Washington team the Rockies watched a 40-yard field goal attempt by the Panthers’ Cesar Mercado hit the cross bar, bounce in the air and fall good, ending a season of maniacal ups and downs in a 31-29 final score.
“I don’t know why these things happen but it was a tremendous effort on our part to play the way we did,” said Plymouth coach John Barron. “The kid made a heck of a play with a 40-yard field goal under pressure.”
