WALKERTON— What’s gotten into the Lions?
First No. 2 Jimtown and now No. 8 John Glenn.
Bremen responded time and again in a nip-tuck Northern State Conference game at Glenn Friday, earning its second straight victory over a ranked Class 3A squad and keeping a four-game win streak alive while spoiling Senior Night and the Falcons’ bid for their first NSC title in 30 years.
Bremen junior quarterback Nate Leeper hooked up with Ben Hueni for a 26-yard touchdown strike — their second scoring connection and fourth overall of the night — with 5 minutes left on the game clock, and the Lions’ defense held off the home team for the 33-28 victory.
“The kids played well, all the credit goes to them,” said Bremen head football coach Bob Holmes. “We were put in some very adverse situations, and every time we needed to perform, the kids stepped up, did a great job and got it done. It’s just an outstanding job.”
“We gave up too many big plays tonight... and a lot of things went their way tonight, and they capitalized on it,” said Glenn head coach Justin Bogunia. “I just didn’t think we had enough things go our way today on calls or plays.”
