Jacqueline Lou Heeter Xaver

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Jacqueline Lou Heeter Xaver passed away Nov. 16, 2012. Her husband of 62 years, Gerald Xaver, held her hand while all their seven children gathered, prayed, and held vigil together.
At her side were daughters Kathleen Therese Xaver McParland (Charles) of Tega Cay, S.C., Ruth Anne Xaver Martin (James) of St. Louis Mo., Nancy Joan Xaver Silvers (John) of Indian Harbour Beach, Fla., Sharon Lou Xaver Guess of Chapin, S.C., and Carol Marie Xaver Modlin (Tiny) of Niles, Mich.; sons Richard Frederick Xaver (Penelope Cole) of Mishawaka, and Steven Joseph Xaver (Pamela) of Toledo, Ohio.
Jacqueline Lou Heeter was born July 2, 1931, in Plymouth, to Ruth Steele and Frederick Heeter. June 23, 1951, she married Gerald Edward Xaver. After beginning her professional career as the society editor at the Plymouth Pilot newspaper, Jackie went on to a career in real estate and mortgage finance. Jackie worked as a real estate closing agent at Portage Realty and as a loan officer at Waterfield Mortgage, as well as St. Joseph Bank of South Bend. Many young families in the South Bend area were able to achieve home ownership through the diligence and hard work of Jackie Xaver, who managed their mortgage applications through the often difficult process.
Her only brother, Frederick Steele Heeter, preceded her in death.
In 2001, Jackie and husband Gerry retired and moved to Greenville S.C. There they could appreciate the full extent of love in the family they nurtured: granddaughters Meghan Weir of Tega Cay, S.C.; Erin Lewis of Boulder, Colo.; Katie Kaufman of Lexington, Ky.; Jessica Orr, of Lexington, Ky.; Jessica Shatto of St. Louis, Mo.; Rebecca Martin of Calistoga, Calif.; and Elizabeth Decker, of St. Louis, Mo.; Stephanie Peterson of Charlotte, N.C.; Savannah Rae Xaver & Vanessa Rae Xaver both of Toledo, Ohio; Nichole Luckie of Lexington, S.C.; Amanda Guess of Charlotte, N.C.; Sarah Guess of Raleigh, N.C.; Hannah Guess of Chapin, S.C.; and Amie Rogers of Greenville, S.C. Her grandsons — Chris Martin of St. Charles, Mo.; Ryan Peterson of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Michael Rogers of Niles, Mich.; Sean Rogers of South Bend; and Kyle Wagner of Niles, Mich. Together, Jackie and Gerry’s family includes their seven children, 20 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
