WINONA LAKE — North Liberty’s Jason Dittmar and teammate Dave Eggers won the Poor Boy’s Bass Attack at Winona Lake, and the victory let them capture the season championship for the . Tournament Series by only one point with 454 points.
On a day when the fish were few and far between as only six teams weighed in a fish, Dittmar’s and Eggers’ four fish weighed 14.90 pounds and was anchored by a 5.39-pound largemouth that took the Travel Tender Bait and Tackle Big Bass Award.
Plymouth’s Rich Patton and Knox’s Dave Morrow were second with 14.33 pounds. They had the only five fish limit of the tournament and reported that was the only five bites they had all day. Their second place finish gave them third place in the season championship hosted by the MARCO Bass Masters.
Jason Weiricks and Ken Baster of Cromwell only had one fish with eight minutes to go but they caught two more in the final minutes on an umbrella rig to take third place with 10.14 pounds. North Liberty’s Andy Buss and Steve Prange were the championship leaders going into the final event but weighed in three fish at 9.10 pounds, and their fourth place finish dropped them to second in the series with 453 points. Rick Rogers and Dan O’Neil used the home waters to their advantage to take fifth place with 3.82 pounds, allowing them to win the Crown Trophy Rookies of the Year Award in 11th place overall for the year.
