Charlene (Howard) Thompson

ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Former Knox resident, Charlene Thompson, 63, of Asheville, N.C., passed away Sept. 28, 2012, with her family by her side.
Charlene was born May 21, 1949, the daughter of the late Lart Howard and Wilma (Upsall) Howard.
She is a 1967 graduate of Knox Community High School.
Charlene lived in Illinois for 30 years as a financial adviser. She was a partner at Graybill Limited. In 2005, Charlene retired to Asheville N.C. Charlene and her husband David loved to travel. She loved good food and had a knack for locating the best places to dine no matter where she lived. Charlene also enjoyed shopping at resale shops. Her pets Emma Rose, an Airedale, and her cat Sammy were her babies. Charlene loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them whenever she could. She also loved the mountains where she lived in Asheville.
She is survived by her loving husband, David Carther, sisters: Carol (Junice) Crittendon, Debbie (Tim) Richardson, Linda (Leonard) Wachs, brothers: Tim (Dinah) Howard, and Pete (Janice) Mercer; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Flossie Cole and brother, David C. Howard.
