LAPORTE — John Glenn’s girls golf team celebrated its new sectional alignment with a runner-up finish at the LaPorte Sectional Friday.
The Lady Falcons trumped New Prairie on a tiebreaker to finish second with a 422 team score behind meet champion Hanover Central’s 408 at Beechwood in their first year at the LaPorte tourney after making the move from the Penn Sectional last year. Glenn now moves on to the Lafayette Jefferson Regional next Saturday, Sept. 22 at Battle Ground.
Glenn was led by Morgan Eggleston’s round of 98, while Emma Reese, Presley Gee and Madeleine Silvey all carded 108 for the consistent Falcons. Kaylee Matz turned in a 116 to tie with New Prairie’s Taylor Myers and force the tiebreaker to a fourth score criterion.
North Judson closed out the year in sixth place at the tourney with a 449 tally. Katie Back shot 107, Ellie Eccles shot 111, Hannah Allender carded a 134, and Katie Bejes turned in a 118. Cameron Croyle’s 134 made up the team’s fifth score.
Oregon-Davis golfers Ashley Clark and Ashley Cambpell closed out their seasons with respective scores of 150 and 185.
Meanwhile at the Penn Sectional at Knollwood, LaVille freshman Lauren Read shot an 84 to earn the right to advance as an individual to the East Noble Regional Sept. 22 at Cobblestone in her first year of state tournament play.
LaVille closed out its team season in fifth place with a 417, and Bremen finished the year in eighth with a score of 446.
Whitney Brown shot a 102, Shayla Eggert turned in a 111, Melissa Hall shot 120, and Casey Turak carded a 140 in LaVille’s final team meet of the year.
Bremen was led by Kayleigh Daily’s 106, followed by Alexandra Homann’s 110, Kaitlyn Ahlenius’ 114, Melissa Krathwohl’s 116, and LaurieAnne Wickens’ 146.
