KENDALLVILLE — Led by an impressive 5-under-par 67 from freshman Katie Sharp, East Noble clinched the championship while DeKalb was second, Fairfield finished third and Plymouth placed 12th at a challenging East Noble Girls Golf Regional at Cobblestone Saturday.
Erin Kinney sank a birdie on the last hole to lead the Lady Pilgrims with a score of 86, while fellow senior Megan Schank shot a 94, both Mandy McPherron and Dani Letsinger turned in scores of 101, and Emily Berger recorded a 103 at the regional contest.
"We told the girls, both Pat (Bayley) and I, 'Hey, we're here. There's approximately 84 teams left in the state tournament, and we're proud of you and just go out and have a great game,'" said Plymouth head coach Jack Kinney. "When it was all said and done, we told them the same thing. That there were a lot of kids at this point in the year that didn't make it out of sectionals into regionals and that we were proud of them, and as long as they felt like they had played their best that we were extremely proud of what they'd done."
