Former Plymouth resident finds calling in mission to Jamaica

MUNCIE — “Kids need to be in a family, the family environment is important to a child’s growing mind and spirit.”
Jennifer Everetts, former Plymouth resident, and husband Bruce, have made it their mission to help the thousands of orphans find that family. The Everetts officially started Journey Home Jamaica last year but the story begins more than 15 years ago. Jennifer’s name while in Plymouth was Walker and her son, Andrew attended Culver Academies.

Regulations requested to protect Pretty Lake views

MARSHALL COUNTY — Among the topics discussed at the Thursday night meeting of the Marshall County Plan Commission was that of a new structural ordinance for lakes within the county, specifically, Pretty Lake, which has had issues with structures blocking lakefront views in recent years.
The situation has become such an issue that Pretty Lake resident Dale Gott and President of the Pretty Lake Property Owners Association Brad Serf decided to attend the commissioner’s meeting to discuss making a change countywide.

Ride the bus to the Plymouth v. Concord game

PLYMOUTH — The undefeated Plymouth Rockies have two fan buses going to Concord on Friday and there are open seats that need to be filled.

“We all need to band together and show our team how much we support them,” said Rockies team mom, Laura Mann.

The fan busses were paid for by donations from The Auto Park and Advanced Auto. The dinner, pizza donated by Little Caesars, is also included free with the ride.

Two accidents and two deaths

KNOX/HAMLET — Starke County police weresent to the scenes of two separate accidents Monday, both involving semi-trucks and both reulting in a fatality.

Semi, car crash leaves one dead, two injured

One woman is dead and two more people are injured after an accident involving a car and a semi occurred on S.R. !0 and Range Road Monday, Sept. 29.

Starke County 911 Dispatch received a call at approximately 11:03 a.m. The caller said there had been an accident involving a car and a semi on S.R. 10 and Range Rd.

Lakeville parks survey extended to October 31

LAKEVILLE — The town of Lakeville's efforts to create better parks for it's community is getting a little more time. The park survey for residents to create a five year plan has been extended to October 31. The survey asks general questions of the makeup of the population, but also information on accessibility, kinds of activities to be available, and features made for public enjoyment.
"Basically I have a bunch of ideas I'm trying to pursue through Indiana Mainstreet," said Shirley Rynearson, former park board president for Lakeville.

Family charged with meth related crimes

PLYMOUTH — The 7 a.m. police raid Friday at a house on Adams Street was rumored to be loud, if the high school students’ tweets about it were any indication.

According to public information officer Trent Smith with the Indiana State Police Bremen Post, the department served a search warrant at the house in the 800 block of Adams Street after an investigation led police to suspect that the manufacture of meth may have been under way.

No fire, just equipment malfunction

PLYMOUTH — A fire alarm at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center Tuesday afternoon turned out to be no big deal, but serious enough to trigger a call to the fire department.

According to public relations manager Robert Sisk with SJRMC, a piece of equipment in the lab malfunctioned, causing smoke to fill the area.

Plymouth Fire Department was called and responded and was back at the station in about 15 minutes.

Identies released in Saturday's fatal accident near Etna Green.

BOURBON/ETNA GREEN AREA — Kosciusko County Coroner's Office has confirmed the identity of the two individuals involved in the motor vehicle fatality crash, Saturday Sept. 27, along U.S. 30 in Kosciusko County.

The driver of the pickup truck hit by a semi-tractor trailer was identified as Jenann Patz, 57, of Crown Point. She was preliminarily identified on the evening of the vehicular crash, but positive visual identification was completed by family members on Monday, Sept. 29.

Early fire Monday destroys home

PLYMOUTH — An early morning fire Monday gutted a single family home on Harrison Street, leaving the tenants without a home and claiming the life of the family dog.
According to Plymouth Fire Chief Rod Miller, the cause of the fire will remain undetermined. It originated in the garage, spread up the wall of the One and a half story wooden older home and into the attic.
“When I arrived on scene the garage was fully engulfed and the flames were shooting through the roof,” Miller said.
A neighbor called in the fire at about 3:18 A.M. The tenants were at work.

Jefferson Street bridge in need of repair

PLYMOUTH — Late last week work was halted on the Metronet conduit installation project on the west bound lane of East Jefferson Street over the Yellow River after the company noticed one of the approach slabs on the bridge had a massive hole beneath it.
The lane is expected to be closed for approximately four weeks. The details can be found in today's Pilot News.
