Gas tanks removed

In ground gas tanks that have laid dormant for years were removed from the ground at the old Clark Station on Jefferson Street in Plymouth, Tuesday. Work on the unused station has been ongoing this week. The station has been closed for several years. The removal of the tanks and other activity at the station had become somewhat of an attraction, said a man calling the Pilot News Tuesday afternoon. A number of people watched the progress of the job, as heavy equipment was called in to dig out the underground tanks.

County Health board member takes Argos to task over Fluoride

MARSHALL COUNTY — The Argos Town Council has withheld adding fluoride to the town water. The decision was made some time ago based on recommendations of the Argos Water Works Operator in Charge. The Marshall County Board of Health touched base last week on the topic as board member Dr. Thomas Pedavoli expressed his disappointment with the Argos council last week.

“We (council) decided the negatives outweighed the positives,” said Town Council President George Noll.

Three injured in accident

BREMEN — Indiana State Police are investigating this two car collision which occurred between 4:30 - 5 p.m. on Monday near Route 331 and 4C Road. According to a ISP officer at the scene, three people were injured and transported to regional hospitals. The cause of the crash or the names of those involved were not available as of press time.

Traffic stop leads to arrest

PLYMOUTH - A traffic stop by Marshall County Sheriff’s deputies led to a meth arrest.

On Friday at approximately 2:03 a.m. an officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on US 30 near Elm Road for several moving violations.
During the course of the stop, it was determined that the driver, 20 year old Derek Hahn of Plymouth was believed to be under the influence of controlled substance.

Ta-ta Trot returns to Plymouth to raise awareness

PLYMOUTH — At 9 a.m. Saturday June 29, Plymouth Ounce of Prevention will be hosting its 5th run/walk fundraiser for breast cancer awareness in Marshall County, the “Ta-Ta Trot.”

Anyone can register for the event up until the day of, but the t-shirt deadline is Tuesday June 18. Forms are online or can be picked up at the Oliver Ford Lincoln dealership at 1001 E. Jefferson St. in Plymouth.

Sheriff's budget stands to lose funds earned from Meals on Wheels

PLYMOUTH - Marshall County Sheriff Tom Chamberlin came before the Marshall County Commissioners seeking some answers on Monday.
Chamberlin had received a draft of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the county and Marshall County Council on Aging. The Sheriff’s Department contracts with the Council to provide the Meals on Wheels program.

Fire destroys Dixon Lake Trail home

June 17, 2013

PLYMOUTH — Fire fighters responded to reports of a structure fire at 14701 Dixon Lake Trail about 7:45 a.m. Monday.

The house was reported as being fully engulfed when the units were dispatched to the scene.

An official report on the fire is pending.

Sentences handed down in meth manufacturing cases

PLYMOUTH — David Howe, 44, of Argos, was sentenced last week in Marshall Superior Court 1 to ten years imprisonment for manufacturing methamphetamine, a Class B felony.

As detailed in the press release issued Saturday by Assistant prosecutor Nelson Chipman, in open court, Howe admitted he manufactured methamphetamine in January and February 2013 in his home located on Hickory Road outside of Argos.

Art in the Streets goin on until 7 p.m.

Friday, June 14 will be a sight to see as the Heartland Artists Gallery and Moon Tree Studio has collaborated with the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce giving Plymouth an array of artist and art on display from noon-8p.m. on Michigan St. "Art in the Street" will display artists who live and draw in Marshall County giving the community a scope of the art in their own area.

Drive -in Theatre facing expensive technology improvement

PLYMOUTH - A local landmark is working to remain a local treasure.
Plymouth’s Tri-Way drive in theatre has long been a part of Marshall County tradition. It would be hard to find a native of the area that hasn’t been to a film at the venue.

“People have proposed during shows at the theatre,” said managerial assistant Cindy Hamilton who along with Dave Kinney owns and operates the drive in.
