Officers involved shooting in Elkhart

ELKHART COUNTY – At the request of the Elkhart City Police Department the Indiana State Police are investigating a shooting that involved officers Tuesday night in Elkhart City.

As part of the department’s protocol an outside agency was called in to complete the investigation, according to a press release issued by Trent Smith with ISP"s Bremen Post

UPDATE: Boil order for Etna Green rescinded

ETNA GREEN — The problem with the public water supply in Etna Green has been fixed and the boil order lifted, according to a press release from town hall.
Bacteria samples from the affected site were collected and tested and met satisfactory levels.

On Monday, in consultation with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, it has been determined that Etna Green water customers should boil their drinking water.

UPATE: T-Storm warning in effect: NOAA weather transmitter out

MARSHALL COUNTY -- The area is under a severe thunderstorm warning until 10 p.m. today.

The National Weather Service says winds 70 mph, large hail and tornadoes are possible.

The NOAA weather transmitter in South Bend is off line and not transmitting. Use alternate means of notification.

Bank robbery suspect arrested

WARSAW -- Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputies have apprehended and arrested the suspect from last week’s North Webster bank robbery, according to a press release issued this morning by Sheriff W.R. Goshert.

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies and detectives took the alleged suspect involved in last week’s bank robbery of the Key Bank into custody without incident this morning just north of Warsaw.

Lady Falcon golf challenge is next week

Glenn to hold second annual Lady Falcon Golf Outing
WALKERTON — On Saturday Sept. 27, the second annual Lady Falcon Golf Outing will take place at Whispering Pines Golf Course in Walkerton.

The event raises money for the school’s girls basketball program and John Glenn High School’s scholarships.

The event will also feature a Hole-in-One Challenge where if you hit a hole-in-one on the chosen hole, you’ll win a car.

The four-person scramble costs $50 per person or $200 per foursome, which includes green fees, cart, food, drinks and prizes.

Low-cost rabies clinic Saturday

MARSHALL COUNTY — The Bourbon Veterinary Clinic has teamed up with the Marshall County Humane Society for a rabies clinic Saturday Sept. 20.

"The reason there hasn't been a rabies epidemic is because rabies vaccines are required by Indiana state law," said Marshall County Humane Society Director Nancy Cox. "This clinic is not designed to replace regular veterinary care; it is for people that need a little help getting their pet up to date on their shots."

Argos council turns down military Humvee

September 19, 2014

ARGOS — A request from Argos Police Chief Rodney Rudd to apply for a Humvee from the US military was turned down by a one-vote margin Wednesday night.

Rudd noted that the vehicle would not need to be painted police colors making it a “squad vehicle,” but that it could be a neutral color and therefore used by all town departments.

Opposition by two town residents present caused a heated discussion to ensue.
