WATERTOWN, Mass. (AP) — Two suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing killed an MIT police officer, injured a transit officer in a firefight and threw explosive devices at police during their getaway attempt in a long night of violence that left one of them dead and another still at large Friday, authorities said as the manhunt intensified for a young man described as a dangerous terrorist.

Redevelopment Commission awards bid for River Park Square

PLYMOUTH — The Plymouth Redevelopment Commission has a contractor to start work on the city's new River Park Square.

At their meeting on Tuesday night the Commission awarded the contract to Michiana Contracting - who had the low bid - but was also able to incorporate the city's "wish list" for the project.

Michiana had a base bid of slightly over $1.3 million for the project. Adding all of the alternates for the project would push it to just slightly over the budget price at a little over $1.6 million.

Plymouth marathoners escape Boston bombing

BOSTON, MA - The tragedy of the bombings in Boston had a local link that thankfully had a happier ending for two Plymouth residents.

Paul Patrick and Jamie Holm were both runners in the Boston Marathon on Monday where bombs marred the ending of the annual event with three deaths and more than 100 hurt. Fortunately for them they had both finished the race well before the bombs exploded.

“The clock in the news reports read a race time of four hours ten minutes but that was actually the third wave of runners,” said Patrick.

Feds deny a suspect is in custody

BOSTON (AP) — Police and reporters converged on the federal courthouse in Boston on Wednesday amid conflicting reports of whether a suspect was in custody in the marathon bombings that killed three people and wounded more than 170.

Several media outlets reported earlier in the day that a suspect had been identified from surveillance video taken at a Lord & Taylor store between the sites of the two bomb blasts.
