Local bands series: Morlan rocks with Charles Dalton Band

PLYMOUTH — What do you get when you take a drummer named Adam Guy, add bassist Scott Hardy, throw in guitarist Jeff Shepherd and top it off with the powerful vocals of Chad Morlan?
You get The Charles Dalton Band, of course, and pure entertainment! Possibly, you were fortunate enough to catch this accomplished cover-band as it recently rocked Plymouth’s Club Omega on Saturday, December 10. The seasoned members of The Charles Dalton Band began performing as a group live in Plymouth and surrounding areas in 2009, but this certainly was not the beginning of their musical careers.

Free bowling today for high school students

Youth for Christ will be hosting free bowling from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Quick's Lanes in Plymouth for any high school student in Marshall County.

Program to help with resolutions for 2012

PLYMOUTH — New Year’s resolutions — easily made, not so easily kept. Anyone who’s ever rung in the new year by promising to exercise regularly or finally get around to that diet will be interested in Fitness Forum’s new program “Set, Believe, and Achieve.”
At no added cost to members, Fitness Forum staff will consult with each individual and help them figure out how to realistically meet their goals.
“New year’s resolutions sometimes fall by the wayside,” said fitness manager Julie Rodriguez. “We want to know what those goals are and set a timeframe to them.”

Stone Creek celebrates holidays with news of bringing headquarters here

PLYMOUTH — Stone Creek Homes will be moving its corporate headquarters to Plymouth from Nebraska, according to David Ferguson, president and CEO.
Ferguson made the announcement at the Christmas party this month for all of employees and families from the Plymouth plant.
Ferguson said the quality and work ethic of the employees at the Plymouth location is prompting him to move the headquarters here.
Ferguson, who is originally from Plymouth, said, “This is an opportunity to pay forward.”

United Way of Marshall Co. at 50% of goal

PLYMOUTH — Executive director of Marshall County United Way Linda Yoder said Wednesday that the organization is at about 50 percent of this year’s campaign goal of $475,000.
“We are still asking everyone we know to help support United Way and the agencies that are counting on us to provide support for their next year,” said Yoder.

Once again, a steady stream of children filed past toy-covered tables during the Lakeville Lions-LaPaz Lions Toys for Tots distribution day Dec. 17 — but this year there was more room to maneuver thanks to the new location in the Newton Center.

Wesley Thrift Shop wraps up another successful year of giving

Culver's Wesley United Methodist Women's Thrift Shop has wrapped up another successful year, including providing a host of holiday-related items (at half-price the latter part of December) leading up to Christmas.

Of course, the store always offers just about anything you can imagine: there are books, games, dishes, hats, gloves and fancy sweaters. The profits from the shop go to support missions of the United Methodist Women projects there in Culver, in the area, the United States and throughout the world.

Lions Clubs spread holiday cheer

LAKEVILLE — Once again, a steady stream of children filed past toy-covered tables during the Lakeville Lions-LaPaz Lions Toys for Tots distribution day.
Unlike the last several years, though, those youngsters, their parents, and volunteers from both Lions Clubs enjoyed plenty of room to maneuver, thanks to a new location – Newton Center in Lakeville.
After eight years at the Union-North Ambulance Service building the ever-expanding campaign charged into its new home Saturday to rave reviews.
