Downtown Plymouth's annual Christmas tree lighting celebration is Friday, November 25 at 5:30 p.m.
Christmas music provided by All Pro DJ’s and members of the PHS choir. Santa will arrive at 5:45 in front of the City Center building at 114 N. Michigan St. Free carriage rides from 6-8 p.m. next to MC Museum on Garro Street. Marshall County Museum will have the trains running starting at 6 p.m. Join Santa at the fire station after the tree lighting for hot chocolate and cookies.

Fink wins Michiana Idol

PLYMOUTH — It was the final round of Michiana Idol, a singing contest held by Sturgis, Mich. radio station WBET 99.3. Chelsea Fink, once one of 50 original contestants, had traveled to Sturgis from Nappanee every weekend since Oct. 1, slowly advancing in the competition. She had made it to the very end, the Nov. 5 final performance—and she wasn’t feeling very confident.

SWAC nearing goal

PLYMOUTH — Shop with a Cop organizers have a goal—to take more than 300 children Christmas shopping Dec. 10. Collection buckets and paper ornaments for donations are set up in stores all around Marshall County, according to Hurshel Hunter of Plymouth FOP Lodge 195.
“We couldn’t do it without the volunteers,” said Hunter.
He added that many schools in the county are also doing their own fundraisers for the program, which is now in its 16th year.
To take 300 children on the shopping trip, Shop with a Cop will need to collect between $40-44,000 in donations.

Ripley resigns as Chairman

PLYMOUTH — Ryan Ripley, Marshall County Democratic Party chairman, announced Friday that he will be resigning effective Dec. 1.
"I have enjoyed the past two years working with the Marshall County Democratic Party and wish future party leaders and candidates all the best with their upcoming efforts and campaigns," said Ripley.
He and his family will be moving to Fort Wayne in order to pursue new career opportunities.
