Argos School Board to meet tonight

Argos Community Schools Board of School Trustees will meet in executive session at 6:45 p.m. at the school administration building. A regular meeting will immediately follow the executive session, with a board of finance committee meeting to follow the regular meeting.

Harper steps down from board

PLYMOUTH — After serving on the Marshall County Election Board since the early 1990s, Steve Harper is stepping down.
Harper announced his resignation at the Election Board meeting Thursday, and filed for a seat on the County Council Wednesday, indicating he felt his position on the board could be viewed as a conflict.
Harper said he had spoken with Marshall County Republican Chair David Holmes concerning the matter prior to submitting a resignation.
According to Harper, the resignation became effective at the end of the Election Board meeting Jan. 12.

Bobby Tauteris is laid to rest

NORTH JUDSON — Family, friends and members of the community packed inside Braman & Bailey Funeral Home in North Judson Sunday, Jan. 15 to celebrate the life of Spc. Robert “Bobby” Tauteris Jr. and to say their final goodbyes.
Bobby lost his life Jan. 6 in Kandahar Afghanistan when the vehicle he was traveling in hit a roadside bomb. Three other soldiers lost their lives in the blast and one was seriously injured.
Bobby grew up in North Judson and was a 1986 graduate of North Judson High School.

Culver Academies' Huffington Concert Series continues Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 7:30 p.m. at Eppley Auditorium with BodyVox, described on their website, BodyVox.com, as "a freewheeling, multi-media, boundary-bending movement troupe" whose performances combine "striking imagery and (and) humor, wit and whimsy to create refined dancing that knows no boundaries."

Nenycz: Soldier, musician

American soldier Jerry Nenycz has been known to swoop in stealth-like, with his guitar in-hand, capture your undivided attention and disarm all potential naysayers with his heartfelt original tunes and self-styled cover songs.
And if, in this endeavor, there are any unforeseen complications — which are always a possibility — he will simply employ his secret weapon. One boyish grin from Nenycz, who seriously resembles an Army Ken doll, and mission accomplished. He quickly wins you over with a song and a smile.

Bobby Tauteris comes home

The Westville Volunteer Fire Department and Knox Center Twp. Fire Department hung a giant flag over S.R. 10 in North Judson for the motorcade that brought Spc. Robert (Bobby) Tauteris Jr. back to his hometown. Spc. Tauteris arrived in North Judson earlier this afternoon.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday morning at Braman & Bailey Funeral Home. Services will begin at 1 p.m.

The body of Spc. Robert Tauteris Jr. arrived in his hometown of North Judson this afternoon.
Dozens of residents lined the streets to pay respects as the motorcade and hearse passed by on its way to Braman & Bailey Funeral home.

Family shares memories of Bobby Tauteris

PLYMOUTH — Family members of Spc. Robert Tauteris spoke out about the loss of their loved one at a special press conference that was held at the Plymouth American Legion Wednesday.
Tauteris, 44, known as Bobby to family and friends, was killed last week when the vehicle he was traveling in hit a roadside bomb. Three other soldiers perished and one was wounded in the blast: Spc. Brian Leonhardt, of Merrillville, Sgt. Jonathan Metzger of Indianapolis, and Spc. Christopher Patterson, of Aurora, Ill. The soldiers were members of the Indiana National Guard’s 713 Engineer Company, Valparaiso.

Biggest Loser final registration, weigh-in Monday

PLYMOUTH — The registration deadline and first weigh-in for Fitness Forum’s Biggest Loser contest is Monday, from 5 to 9 a.m. and 5 to 7 p.m.
More than 100 teams are signed up, and fitness manager Julie Rodriguez said that interested teams can still sign up Monday during weigh-in.
“If you’re on the fence (about whether or not to sign up) try to find somebody who has the same goals as you,” advised Rodriguez.

New electives offered at junior high

PLYMOUTH — Beginning with the 2012-13 school year, there will be changes at Lincoln Junior High.
LJH Principal Dan Funston presented the proposed changes to the Plymouth School Board this week.
Funston said, “We will be adding three new electives that students will sign up for in the same way they students do at the high school level.”
