Marshall county still under "Watch" level travel advisory

MARSHALL COUNTY — Marshall County Emergency Management director Clyde Avery confirmed that the county will remain under a "watch" level travel advisory.

"Currently, Marshall County is under a Winter Weather Advisory that is in effect from 11 a.m. this morning until 11 p.m. tonight," Avery said. "Snow will overspread our area this afternoon with the heaviest snow falling at a rate of 1-2 inches per hour at times. The heaviest snow is predicted to occur between 3 p.m and 8 p.m. tonight. Snow totals of between 4 -6 inches are expected.

Area schools closing early

Argos Schools are closing at 1:30 pm. Culver schools is dismissing at 1:40 p.m. Triton will release elementary students at 1:40 pm and high school students at 1:50 pm.

Winter weather advisory in place; potetial flooding possible by end of week

MARSHALL COUNTY — Snow is predicted today, but emergency officials are also watching what happens later this week. Warm-up and possible rainfall may make flooding possible in some portions of the county.

Winter Weather advisory goes into effect at 11 a.m

National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Northern Indiana beginning at 11:00am on Monday, February 17, 2014 which will remain in effect until 11:00pm Monday night.

Snow will begin to fall after 1pm with the heaviest snow fall occurring in the afternoon and evening. 3-5 inches of new snow is expected. In addition, winds will be blowing out of the southeast at approximately 10-15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

Roads will become slick and hazardous. Visibility may also be reduced during the heaviest snow.

Emergency Management warns about possibility of flooding

MARSHALL COUNTY — Emergency Management is warning residents about the potential for flooding caused by the forecasted warm up for the area in the next week.

Here's the information, as provided by Clyde Avery, director of Marshall County Emergency Management:

According to the National Weather Service, a warm up will begin late next week and likely continue into the last week of February. Temperatures could reach into the 40' and 50's.

Catch a movie at the Plymouth Library Saturday

PLYMOUTH — Plymouth Public Library is featuring family movie time at 1 p.m. in the Laramore A Meeting Room.

Parents of children 10 years of age and under must accompany and remain with children.

If desired, bring snacks and drinks from home or purchase them in the library snack room.

Michigan Road's history focus of today's Brown Bag Lunch series

PLYMOUTH — The first presentation in the Marshall County Museum's Brown Bag Lunch series was a success. Kurt Garner shared some of the rich history of the Michigan Road. The road stretches from Madison to Michigan City and crosses several major roadways.
