Food canning business gets variance

PLYMOUTH - Marshall County will have a new canner of low acidic foods.
Homer Kuhn of 6A Road in Plymouth came before the Marshall County Board of Zoning Appeals to seek a variance of use for a business to produce and can low acidic foods for distribution.

Kuhn told the BZA that he had attended classes at Purdue to meet requirements for the business and meet Food and Drug Administration requirements for the business.

Marshall County spared worst of the weather

MARSHALL COUNTY — Did you hear it? That collective sigh of relief when the massive storm front blew through Marshall County Wednesday night with little damage and few power outages.

While there were reports of funnel clouds, golf ball to tennis ball size hail, torrential winds and numerous lightning strikes, emergency management officials reported no major power disruptions or damage from the first wave of storms which came through between 7 - 8 p.m. or in the subsequent waves which followed into the early morning hours.

Plymouth area weather warning sirens not working

MARSHALL COUNTY — Residents in the Plymouth area are being advised to find an alternate source for severe weather information instead of relying on the warning sirens.

Emergency Management Director Clyde Avery said two of the siren warning systems are not working and in light of the severe weather that is forecast for the region, people need to make other arrangements.
