Culver park board votes in paddleboard rentals, boating lessons at beach

November 24, 2014

The unusually wintry weather of the past several days might not seem conducive to thoughts of summer, boating, and the beach, but Culver's park board voted in a major new initiative for the community, in partnership with the Maxinkuckee Yacht Club and Sail22.

During a pre-board meeting work session on Nov. 10, the board heard from Ed Furry, vice-commodore of the Yacht Club and co-owner of Sail22, which operates a stand-up paddleboard business as well as organizing the annual Lake Max Challenge paddle boarding race in Culver. Furry and his wife Becky also operate Lakemaxlife.

Culver council hears of new EMS director, vice-director

November 22, 2014

Culver's EMS service is under new leadership, according to an announcement made at last week's (Nov. 11) town council meeting by Ruth Allman, who has been voted in as the new director of the service.
Allman, noting both former director Brandon Cooper and vice director Kimberly Irsa resigned from those positions (though Cooper continues to be a volunteer member of the EMS and Irsa a fulltime staff member), added that Julie Carmean has been appointed EMS vice director.
